My bookNettuno non poteva ignorare
An autobiographical novel that intertwines real life, the sea, and real adventures. An authentic tale, born from firsthand experience and a passion for sailing, published by Europa Edizioni.
The son of a family of generations of seafarers, I served for over forty years in the Merchant Marine, the Italian Navy, and the Coast Guard. Today, I run MAG International (www.magcorporate.net), a company dedicated to preventing intentional unlawful acts against ships, ports, and port facilities. My career has been guided by a single principle: protecting people, the sea, and its waterways.
On January 1, 1979, during an Atlantic crossing, we intercepted an SOS: a burning oil tanker, the Master Michael, was sinking. With rough seas and fierce winds, the Captain maneuvered masterfully to approach the survivors. We managed to save four men, but twenty-seven lives were lost, including Shim Shoan, the sailor who held the flashing light of their desperate signal to the last. That night, the face of death and the value of life remained etched in my memory forever.
